On Saturday Nov. 3, the Madison Mohawk Marching Band will compete at the Mid-States Band Association Championship at Miamisburg High School. Our Band will be competing against 28 other bands from Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky in Class AA.
MSBA Championships have two rounds, Qualifying and Final. Madison’s Band will perform at 11:15 on Saturday morning in the Qualifying round. At the end of this round, at approximately 5:50 pm, the judges will announce the top ten bands, who will be invited to stay and perform again in the Finals round. These ten final performances will take place in random order from 7:00 to 9:30 pm. Although Madison has competed at the MSBA Championship in the past, we have never reached the Finals; achieving this goal would place the band in the top 10 bands in the tristate.
This fall, the Madison Marching Band has achieved a perfect record of winning First Place in all four of its competitions, as well as receiving a rating of Superior (I) in OMEA competition. Since the OMEA and MSBA competitions are on the same day, the band members decided to challenge themselves further by competing against other bands from a wider area at MSBA, since the OMEA state competition gives ratings but do not rank the bands against each other.
The address of Miamisburg High School is 1860 Belvo Road, Miamisburg, OH 45342.
