Solar Eclipse Viewing at Madison Local School District

Safety is always a top priority at MLSD. We will take all precautionary measures with both students and staff to make this experience both safe and enjoyable. Homemade filters or ordinary sunglasses, even very dark ones, are not safe for looking at the sun. Students will not be permitted to look at the sun, or partially eclipsed sun, through unfiltered cameras, telescopes, binoculars or other optical devices without eclipse-safe glasses.

Because of these safety concerns, your child MUST have a signed Solar Eclipse Viewing Permission Form returned by the date below. If you do not return a form or you do not wish for your child to view the eclipse, they will complete an alternative activity from inside the school building during the eclipse.

If your student attends MJSHS, please return the form by
Friday, August 18, 2017 to Connect teachers.

If your student attends MES, please return the form on
Monday, August 21, 2017 to Homeroom teachers.

Madison Jr/Sr High School students will carry home a permission slip on
Wednesday, August 16, 2017.

Madison Elementary School students will receive a permission slip
in the mail in the coming days.

Please view the safety information here on the website
and we encourage you to discuss the dangers with your child prior to the event.
