Smart Start Letters

What are Smart Start Days?

Teachers will be using Smart Start Days to assess your student’s strengths and areas for growth in reading and math. Teachers will listen to your child read and determine the appropriate level to begin reading instruction. Also during this scheduled time, your child will take the math MAP assessment. This student performance data will guide teachers in planning instruction and making the most of classroom time allowing them to “hit the ground running.”

You will receive a scheduled day (August 14, 15, or 16) and time, much like a parent/teacher conference to meet with your child’s teacher for the 2017-18 school year to share information you feel is important for him/her to know prior to the start of school. We will have all “back-to-school” forms ready for you to complete on this day during your child’s assessment time.
