The students in the 5th grade have been presented with a real-world problem. Madison Elementary School has accumulated over 6,531 pounds of trash in a two week period but nothing is being done to reduce that amount. The teachers and administration have asked the 5th graders to brainstorm, research and collaborate to solve this problem and make a difference in the Madison school community.
Thursday, February 9 Parent Conference Night: 5:30-6:30 What Parents Need to Know about Preparing Students for Life after High School (for sophomore and junior parents)
The Madison guidance department and career consultant will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the variety of options available to students after high school: 2 and 4-year college options, trade schools, immediate work, and military training. We will discuss what your sons and daughters need to accomplish to be well-prepared for college or careers. Please attend. Parents make a world of difference.
The students in grades 6, 7, and 8 are currently participating in a 30 minute presentation on bullying and how to handle bullying situations. During the presentation Tracy Donovan, Guidance Counselor, discusses the 4 types of bullying- physical, relational, emotional, and cyber. She uses real life examples with the students to explain each type of bullying and leads a discussion on what to do if you are bullied, if you know someone who is bullied, and if you are the bully.
